Inspired by a series of historical photographs of the city of Frankfurt from the 19th century, I started looking for the depicted motifs with an approximately 120-year-old wooden travel-camera and taking similar photographs in 18x24 format on sheet film. Some of the images give the impression that they could actually be shots from the past, while the modern motifs in them seem like hints from the future. The fact that the holder for the sheet film as well as the small imperfections such as minimal light coming through the wooden cassette can be seen in the photos also gives the pictures a strange temporal ambivalence.
